President Bashar al-Assad on Thursday granted Ambassador of Algeria in Damascus, Lahsan Tuhami, the Syrian order of merit of the excellent degree in appreciation of his efforts to develop the Syrian-Algerian relations.
Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Fayssal Mikdad, who awarded the Algerian Ambassador the order of merit at a farewell ceremony, as the latter ends his mission as an Ambassador of Algeria to Syria, described as “deep and strong” the historic relations between Syria and Algeria.
“The two countries cooperate with each other against terrorism and they have offered martyrs in defense of their independence and sovereignty,” Mikdad said.
He hailed the latest development in the Arab region and cooperation among Arab states in order to activate the Arab joint action.
Ambassador Tuhami, for his part, thanked President al-Assad for honoring him, appreciating the Syrian Foreign Ministry on its continuous cooperation and supporting him to complete his duties here.
He stressed his country’s keenness on enhancing historic ties with Syria.
