Syrian Defense Ministry Continues Pursuit of Assad Regime Remnants Amid Rising Death Toll
The Syrian Defense Ministry announced on Saturday evening that its forces are continuing to pursue the remnants of the Assad regime, in line with approved operational plans.
In a statement, Colonel Hassan Abdul Ghani, the spokesperson for the Syrian Defense Ministry, said: “Our forces are continuing to pursue the remnants according to the approved operational plans.”
He added, “We call on those who have fled to the coast to return to their areas, as the situation is under complete control.”
Colonel Abdul Ghani further noted: “Our forces are making rapid field progress in pursuing the remnants of the fallen regime, which have attacked public security forces and carried out treacherous ambushes against them.”
He emphasized that the military has “encircled all areas and isolated the wanted individuals,” with all those apprehended being handed over to the relevant security authorities for processing.
Meanwhile, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that the death toll from two days of clashes has risen to over 600 fatalities.
The clashes, which erupted on Thursday, mark a significant escalation in the challenges facing the new government in Damascus.
