Syrian President Bashar al-Assad issued on Saturday a decree naming former Minister of Communications Mohamed Ghazi Jallali to form the new Syrian government.
The new government will replace the former administration, which has been serving in a caretaker role since mid-July when the country held parliamentary elections.
Jallali served as the Minister of Communications and Technology from 2014 to 2016, and before that, he was Deputy Minister of Communications and Technology from 2008 to 2014.
Dr. Mohamed Ghazi Jallali, 55, holds a PhD in Engineering Economics from Ain Shams University, Cairo, dated 2000. He also holds a Master of Science in Civil Engineering, again from the same university, awarded in 1997, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Civil Engineering from the University of Damascus, completed in 1994. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Damascus University, in 1992. Jallali is considered a consultant and an expert in both public and private sectors in Syria, as he has contributed to so many leading engineering projects in the country.
