The responsibility for civilian deaths lies entirely with the Kiev regime, the Russian embassy in Washington noted
The US must acknowledge that Ukrainian radicals are incessantly shelling residential areas of Donetsk and that the Kiev regime is responsible for deaths of civilians, the Russian embassy in Washington said in a statement on Wednesday.
The embassy cited US Attorney General Merrick Garland who urged punishment for those who perpetrated “atrocities” in Ukraine.
“We stand in full solidarity with the opinion of the official,” the statement said. “Russian forces are doing everything possible so that Nazis can’t hide from just retribution. Everybody who has terrorized peaceful citizens of Donbass over the past eight years and committed genocide against Russian speaking people must suffer severe punishment.”
“We call on the US to acknowledge the fact of incessant bombing of residential areas of Donetsk by Ukrainian radicals. Innocent people die in the DPR capital every day,” the statement continued. “There are no military facilities or locations of Russian forces. What is this if not a horrible war crime?”
“The responsibility for civilian deaths lies entirely with the Kiev regime,” the embassy went on to say. “Given that the strikes on the city are being carried out from Western weapons, all this is also on the conscience of Washington and its allies.”
Garland said on Tuesday that the US Department of Justice will put together a team that will, among other things, help Kiev in holding to account the people that are allegedly involved in perpetrating war crimes in Ukraine.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in response to a request for help by the heads of the Donbass republics. The West retaliated to the Russian decision by imposing sweeping sanctions on the country. Also, Western countries started shipments of weapons and military equipment to Kiev, which by now are worth billions of dollars.
