The town of Maryinka located on the south-western outskirts of Donetsk was completely destroyed by heavy battles. Clashes in the city began in March 2022 and continue to this day.
After Russian forces took control of the eastern and central districts, clashes continue in the western part of Maryinka. On March 24, the acting head of the DPR Denis Pushilin commented on the ongoing battle for the town, claiming that Ukrainian forces are in control of a small area in the western part of the town. The DPR could claim control of Maryinka as soon as the area is captured by Russian forces. In its turn, the Ukrainian military attempts to counterattack.
So far, the heavy battle is ongoing. The Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Russian Army are fighting for control of every house.
The video filmed by a Russian UAV showed four Russian and four Ukrainian servicemen entering the destroyed house. As a result of the firefight, no one left the building. As soon as it became clear that none of the soldiers could leave the house, it was shelled by Ukrainian artillery
