On April 4, the Basmanny Court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for a period until June 2, 2023 for Trepova
Lawyers of Daria Trepova, accused of a terrorist attack in a St. Petersburg cafe that killed war blogger Vladlen Tatarsky, have not appealed her arrest yet but they still can do it by mail. An official with the Basmanny Court of Moscow told TASS about this on Saturday.
On April 4, the Basmanny Court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for a period until June 2, 2023 for Trepova. The defense asked for a preventive measure not related to imprisonment.
“The time limit for filing a complaint against Trepova’s detention has expired. Technically, a decision appeared in the court file that the court’s decision on the choice of a preventive measure against the accused person has entered into force. However, the defense or the accused can appeal against the arrest by mail, and in this case the court will set a date for the consideration of the complaint in the appellate instance of the Moscow City Court,” the court said.
They clarified that at the moment the complaint of the accused has not been submitted to the court.
According to the investigation, on April 2, 2023 Trepova, following instructions from her handlers in Ukraine, brought a statuette bomb to a cafe in the center of St. Petersburg and gave it as a gift to military blogger Maxim Fomin, known by his penname Vladlen Tatarsky. As a result of the explosion that followed seconds later Fomin died. More than 30 people who were in the cafe at the moment suffered injuries. Trepova is accused of committing a crime described in article 205 and article 222.1 of the Criminal Code (terrorist act committed by an organized group, resulting in the intentional death of a person and illegal carrying of explosive devices committed by an organized group).
