The statement comes in light of the recent attacks against worshippers in the Al-Aqsa mosque, describing the attacks as a portrayal of the “vicious face of this apartheid regime before the global public opinion.”
In a statement issued on Thursday to mark International Quds Day, Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned the US’ “shameful” silence vis-a-vis the IOF’s crimes against the Palestinians, and called on Muslim nations to stand up and support the people of Occupied Palestine.
“Now, Palestine and holy Quds have turned into the symbol of unity in the Muslim world and represent the cause of the world’s right-seeking oppressed and freedom seekers from any race and religion,” the statement read. Advocates of human rights were not exempt from criticism as they were labeled as supporters of the IOF.
The ministry stressed Iran’s “principled and unchangeable” support for the Palestinian struggle and resistance, and asked “all the Muslim governments and nations, as well as the world’s freedom seekers to become united to confront this cancerous tumor and disruptor of regional and international stability and security, and to give real support and assistance to the oppressed people of Palestine.”
Emphasis was put on the legal obligation of international organizations and human rights organizations to support the Palestinians’ rights and put an end to the crimes against Al-Quds and other occupied Palestinian territories.
From the sea to the river
The statement comes in light of the recent attacks against worshippers in the Al-Aqsa mosque, which Iran described as a portrayal of the “vicious face of this apartheid regime before the global public opinion.”
The IOF turned the courtyards of Al-Aqsa mosque into military barracks in a bid to provide protection for the illegal settlers storming the Muslim holy site on the fourth day of Passover.
The Islamic Endowments Department in Al-Quds said scores of settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque in Groups from the Moroccan Gate, adding that they carried out provocative tours and performed some rites under the protection of the Israeli occupation forces.
Furthermore, Iran urged Muslims to unite and consolidate “once again and support the heroic resistance of the Palestinian nation with the ultimate objective of liberating all the occupied territories of Palestine from the sea to the river and forming an integrated Palestinian establishment with holy al-Quds as its capital.”
