Pakistani Petroleum Minister Mossadeq Malik said that Pakistan has requested its first order of oil from Russia with a discount in the price, within the framework of a bilateral agreement between the two countries.
And the media quoted the Pakistani minister today, Thursday: “Pakistan will import oil from Russia according to an agreement between the two countries. It is expected that its supplies will reach 100 thousand barrels per day.”
According to Malik, the first Russian oil tanker will arrive in the Pakistani port of Karachi next May, and the oil that will be received from Russia will be processed by Pakistani companies.
The minister did not mention the size of the discount on the price of a barrel of Russian oil obtained by Pakistan, but earlier it was noted that the estimated price for Pakistan could reach $50 a barrel, taking into account the expected discount.
Last January, representatives of the governments of Pakistan and Russia reached an agreement on the supply of Russian oil, and it was agreed on the issues of logistics, insurance, payments and export volume.
As part of Pakistan’s energy security plan, oil, liquefied natural gas, pipeline gas and other fuels will be imported from Russia. Islamabad expects that imports from Russia will meet up to 35% of Pakistan’s oil needs in the future.
