An informed source said that no decision has yet been taken regarding the mediation of a Turkish bank in the matter of paying the value of Russian agricultural products, and the matter is subject to the supervision of the official Turkish authorities.
Earlier, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said that the return of the Russian “Ross Silkhoz Bank” to the SWIFT system and the Turkish bank’s mediation is on the agenda, and discussions are ongoing in this regard.
The source added: “No, no decisions have been taken. Negotiations are ongoing and the Turkish official authorities at the highest level are following them up.”
At the same time, the source did not rule out high-level talks on the details of the proposed mediation mechanism for the Turkish bank.
The Black Sea Grain Initiative, which was signed on July 22, 2022 by representatives of Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and the United Nations, includes an agreement on the export of Ukrainian grain through the Black Sea and the unblocking of Russian exports, foodstuffs and fertilizers.
On March 18, 2023, Russia extended the grain deal for a period of 60 days, that is, until May 18.
