Iran’s First Vice President, Mohammad Mukhber, considered that the signing of the agreement between Iran and Russia on the implementation of the “North-South” corridor project is an important step in the development of bilateral relations.
“We must seriously follow up on the implementation of this agreement, and I am sure that the countries of the region will also benefit from it,” the Iranian official said, while receiving a Russian delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak.
The Iranian vice president called for strengthening the role of the private sector in both countries to contribute more than ever before to the development of economic cooperation between Tehran and Moscow, and to harness all available energies in this regard.
He also called for accelerating the pace of work to abandon the use of the US dollar from commercial dealings between the two countries. He described this step as being of great importance in the context of advancing the course of economic relations.
For his part, Novak expressed his appreciation for the special interest in the “North-South” project, noting that it will turn into a strategic route for Iran, Russia and other countries in the region.
The Russian Deputy Prime Minister referred to the cooperation opportunities that he and the accompanying delegation discussed throughout his current visit with the Iranian side, pointing out that the two countries reached good consensus on cooperation in the fields of oil, gas, banking and agricultural affairs.
