After the Iraqi Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia’a Al-Sudani, announced this morning the “Roads of Development” project, RT will inform you of the most important information about the project.
It starts from Basra in the far south of Iraq and passes through the nests of Iraqi provinces, all the way to Turkey and from there to Europe.
One of its advantages is linking the trade of the East and West of the world, while the annual profits will reach approximately (4) billion dollars, in addition to providing (100) thousand job opportunities.
From a specific point in the large port of Faw, the multi-modal development road (dual-use) begins, with highways passing through for trucks transporting goods, and railways for transporting goods and passengers.
Through it, Iraq will turn into a major station for trade and a major transport station between Asia and Europe, in which the sea voyage will decrease from (33) to (15) days.
The cost of the project amounts to (17) billion dollars, (10) of which is to purchase fast electric trains that transport loads within (16) hours, while the remainder is spent on extending a railway network with a length of (1200) km.
According to the Iraqi Ministry of Transport, the project will be completed by 2028, and its completion rate has now reached 40% of its starting point in the Al-Faw Grand Port.
The maximum capacity of the port of Al-Faw Grand Port is about (3.5) million equivalent units according to the assumed horizon in 2028, while it will reach about (7.5) million equivalent units according to the assumed horizon in 2038.
The development road and dry canal project is not only for Iraq and Turkey, but for the world and the region, as it connects the East with the West, and it is the global corridor for the transportation of goods.
There will be a railway line, land transport lines, the large port of Faw, which is the largest port in the Middle East, and the energy industrial city, which will be one of the largest industrial cities in the Middle East.
