Iran’s natural gas exports in 2022 registered a two-percent decline compared to the same period last year, OPEC added.
Iran ranked among the world’s top 20 natural gas exporters. The country exported 18.8 billion cubic meters of this product in 2022.
Iran had exported over 18.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas in 2021.
With the export of 195 billion cubic meters of gas, the United States was the largest exporter of natural gas in the world in 2022 due to the Ukraine war.
Before the start of the war in Ukraine, the Russian Federation was the largest exporter of natural gas in the world but Moscow’s export of gas decreased 24 percent in 2022, reaching 184 billion cubic meters.
