Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati visited the drilling rig in Block 9, which is scheduled to start gas exploration at the end of August.
Total Energy and its partners Eni and Qatar Power have announced the launch of exploration activities in the area located in Lebanese territorial waters.
The writer and political researcher, Hassan Choucair, described in an interview with “Sputnik”, the discovery of gas in this region as the only hope for Lebanon to get out of all its crises, saying: “The issue of the existence and discovery of gas after 67 days, and the confirmation of this issue, must reflect positively on Lebanon, especially since this path is the only hope for Lebanon to get out of all its crises.”
