Speaker of People’s Assembly, Hammoudeh Sabbagh, received on Tuesday the newly-appointed Ambassador of Tunisia to Syria, Muhammad bin al-Bashir al-Mahdhabi.
During the meeting, Sabbagh described as “deep and strong” the relations between Syria and Tunisia, referring to the necessity to strengthen and upgrade them in all fields, especially the parliamentary ones in terms of exchanging visits and benefiting from experiences of both countries.
He called for forming two fraternal committees in Syrian People’s Assembly and Tunisian counterpart of Representatives that work to coordinate and unify stances at conferences and international forums.
Sabbagh briefed the Ambassador on events in Syria in terms of occupying parts of its territory and plundering its resources by the U.S. and its allies in the region.
In turn, Ambassador al-Mahdhabi underlined his country’s support to Syria and its just causes, and the importance of developing and strengthening relations in various fields in a way that would serve the benefit of the two peoples.
