President Mahmoud Abbas called today for an immediate end to the Israeli aggression and displacement of our people in Gaza.
His call came as he met with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in the Jordanian capital, Amman.
The President also called for the opening of urgent humanitarian corridors to the Gaza Strip, provide medical supplies, and deliver water, electricity, and fuel to the embattled Palestinian citizens there.
The President warned of a humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip as a result of the cessation of all humanitarian services and the stopping of the only power plant there.
He also called for the need to stop the Israeli settler terrorism against our people in Palestinian cities, villages and refugee camps in the West Bank, and to stop the extremists’ incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque, which are causing the situation to escalate.
The President affirmed his rejection of practices related to killing or abusing civilians on both sides, calling for the release of civilians, prisoners and detainees.
President Abbas affirmed the policy of the Palestine Liberation Organization, the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people, which rejects violence and adheres to international legitimacy, peaceful popular resistance, and political action as a path to achieving our national goals of freedom and independence.
During the meeting, the President stressed that security and peace can be achieved by giving the Palestinian people their legitimate rights and implementing the two-state solution based on international legitimacy, freedom and independence for our people in their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital on the pre-1967 borders.
