US President Biden, speaking at a Human Rights Campaign national dinner here in Washington, DC, was interrupted by a protester very briefly on Saturday night.
Although the protester said, “Let Gaza live, ceasefire now”, the President continued speaking, saying that most people living in Gaza are “innocent Palestinian families who want nothing to do with Hamas”.
Democrats in the US – particularly the younger voters that Biden needs to win re-election – are very much pro-Palestinian and not OK with the treatment Palestinians are receiving in Gaza.
It is also becoming a growing problem for the president within his own party on Capitol Hill. In fact, Democrats in the House of Representatives have sent a letter in the last 24 hours to the US president and secretary of state demanding that the US use its influence with Israel to immediately restore food, water and electricity, and end the humanitarian crisis.
