President Mahmoud Abbas the Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen discussed today the recent developments in the Palestinian territories.
During a phone conversation, President Abbas stressed the need to immediately stop the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and to spare civilians the scourge of war, in light of the barbaric bombing of defenseless civilians in the Gaza Strip.
President Abbas stressed the necessity of opening permanent humanitarian corridors to bring in medical and food relief aid and to provide water and electricity as quickly as possible.
He said that targeting civilians in hospitals and demolishing buildings with residents inside are brutal crimes that cannot be tolerated, stressing the need to stop settler terrorism against the Palestinian people in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
The President stressed Palestine’s categorical rejection of the displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, the West Bank or Jerusalem.
He underscored the necessity of implementing a political solution based on international legitimacy in order for the Palestinian people to gain their freedom, independence and sovereignty, which guarantees security and stability for all in the region.
President Abbas affirmed that there is no security or military solution for the Gaza Strip.
For her part, the Danish Prime Minister affirmed her country’s commitment to providing humanitarian aid, expressing her deep sadness over the civilian casualties.
Frederiksen stressed that she will remain in contact with President Abbas during the coming period in order to consult and provide whatever assistance possible.
