President Mahmoud Abbas received tonight a telephone call from Australian Prime Minister, Anthony Norman, during which President Abbas affirmed that what is occurring in Gaza is a genocide that be stopped immediately.
The president stressed, during the phone call, that the killings and the destruction of hospitals and shelter centers, as well as the starving of the civilian population, are all a result of the siege imposed by the Israeli occupation against the Strip, which he maintained is also the reason behind being incapable of bringing in medical supplies and food or provide it with water, fuel, and electricity.
President Abbas stressed the need for an immediate stop to the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in the Strip, asserting the importance of bringing in relief aid to the strip as soon as possible and preventing the displacement of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip or the West Bank, including Jerusalem, which he stressed is utterly rejected and will not be accepted.
He warned of the dangers of ongoing attacks by Israeli occupation forces and terrorist colonists against the Palestinian people and their Muslim and Christian holy sites.
President Abbas affirmed the importance of implementing a political solution based on the international legitimacy of the United Nations for the attainment of freedom, independence, and sovereignty by the Palestinian people, which he stressed would ensure security and stability for everyone in the region
He affirmed the importance of recognizing the State of Palestine, stating that there is no security, nor military solution to the Strip, and that “Gaza is an integral part of the state of Palestine,” adding that the plans of Israeli occupation authorities cannot be accepted nor dealt with.
The president told the Australian Prime Minister: “We are the makers of the independent national decision and the policies and decisions of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people, is the body that governs our actions,” affirming that any solution must be comprehensive within the independent Palestinian State, which includes the West Bank, Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip.
