Ghazi Hamad, a member of Hamas’s political bureau, says the rights of the Palestinian people should be “on the table” during diplomatic discussions related to Gaza.
The US is “moving away” from ensuring that the rights of the Palestinian people are met by continuing to support “the occupation, the war and the crimes committed against the Palestinian people”, Hamad told Al Jazeera.
Despite allegations of truce violations, the agreement is so far “going well”, he said, adding that Hamas has provided evidence to mediators of violations concerning aid deliveries, prisoner releases and military activity.
Hamad said a lot of the much-needed humanitarian aid has not yet reached northern Gaza.
“There must be additional guarantees that the truce will be seen through,” he said before adding that Hamas is fully prepared to conclude a comprehensive deal if Israel has “serious intentions” of releasing all Palestinian prisoners.
