The French foreign ministry has condemned shelling by Israel in south Lebanon that killed a Lebanese soldier yesterday.
“France is gravely concerned by the ongoing clashes on the border between Lebanon and Israel. France condemns the Israeli strike which cost the life of a member of the Lebanese armed forces, and sends its sincere condolences to the victim’s relatives,” a spokesperson in a daily briefing.
One Lebanese soldier was killed and three wounded when Israeli shelling hit near a border village in south Lebanon, the Lebanese army said in a statement on Tuesday.
The Israeli army later expressed “regret over the incident” and said it was reviewing an attack that harmed Lebanese troops.
