According to a Wall Street Journal survey released Saturday, 53% of US voters say President Joe Biden’s policies were directly harmful to them.
More than half of US voters have expressed disdain with the current President Joe Biden’s policies, some insisting they have harmed them personally.
According to a Wall Street Journal survey released Saturday, 53% of US voters said President Joe Biden’s policies had directly harmed them compared to the 49% who said former President Donald Trump’s policies had helped them during his tenure.
Only 37% said Trump’s policies had harmed them.
The poll indicated that only 23% of respondents rated Biden’s policies as beneficial to them, and 44% believe Trump is more capable than Biden of handling the current war on Gaza.
According to a Pew Research Center poll released Friday, only a third of Americans approve of the Biden administration’s reaction to the war on Gaza.
With Republicans, 51% of respondents disapprove while only 28% approve. Democrats, meanwhile, stand further divided: 44% approve, 33% disapprove, and 22% are undecided.
The Israeli bombardment of Gaza and the US backing of such aggression has been the biggest foreign policy challenge for the current administration, followed by the Ukraine war.
The presidential election in the United States is slated for November 2024 and current surveys have indicated the former president holds an edge over Biden.
To make matters worse for Biden, Muslim Americans in numerous swing states have recently launched an #AbandonBiden campaign in response to his poor handling of the war on Gaza.
Jaylani Hussein of Minneapolis told Axios that the campaign will mostly center on social media, adding that while Muslim leaders realize not electing Biden would mean a possible second term for Trump, it would also allow a chance to “recalibrate”, and Democrats “will have to consider whether they want our votes or not.”
Biden losing Muslim votes for 2024 for supporting Gaza Genocide: CAIR
Last month, Nihad Awad, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), told Anadolu that Muslim voters would not support US President Joe Biden in the upcoming presidential election because he betrayed Palestinians and permitted the Israeli genocide in Gaza.
In an interview, Awad claimed that Biden “ignored” Muslims in Gaza, and as a result, they would disregard him at the polls the next year.
Anadolu quoted Awad as saying that Biden was told, “If you do not call for an immediate cease-fire [in Gaza], you will not get our votes in 2024,” adding that there was “no possibility” of receiving any support from Biden.
According to the report, Awad charged that the Biden administration completely violated the equality, dignity, and human rights of Palestinians in particular.
Awad called Biden’s support for “Israel” “completely one-sided” and emphasized that the US has provided the Israelis with a “carte blanche to use excessive force against civilians.”
