Jake Sullivan and Benjamin Netanyahu are currently meeting in Tel Aviv.
A statement posted on social media by the Israeli prime minister’s office says that Israeli National Security Adviser Tzachi Hanegbi and Brett McGurk, US President Joe Biden’s senior Middle East adviser, are also in attendance.
Earlier, Sullivan met Defence Minister Yoav Gallant in which the two officials discussed the fight against Hamas and the tensions on the Lebanese border. In short comments after the meeting Gallant thanked the US administration for its “unreserved support”.
Gallant also told Sullivan that Israel would need “more than a few months” to dismantle Hamas and stressed “it is going to be a long war”.
