Pat Ryder has said that the US is prepared for potential retaliation from the Houthis but does not seek further escalation in the region.
Speaking with Al Jazeera, Ryder said that attacks by the US and the UK targeted “military targets inside Houthi-controlled territory in Yemen that included missile storage facilities, UAV storage facilities, coastal radar, all targets intended to degrade and destruct their ability to conduct these kinds of reckless attacks in the future”.
“We haven’t seen any retaliation at this stage from the Houthis, something we’ll continue to closely monitor and be prepared to respond to as appropriate,” he said.
Ryder added that he had no announcements regarding further deployment of US forces to the region.
