In a post on X, Israel Katz said he held a “constructive conversation” with UAE foreign minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
“I emphasised the importance that Israel attributes to our relations with the UAE,” Katz wrote. “We agreed to continue working together to strengthen our bilateral relations and to promote peace and security for the benefit of all people of the region.”
The UAE did not immediately comment on the content of the call. The Gulf nation signed an agreement to normalise ties with Israel in September 2020, but has been among the Arab nation condemning operations in Gaza.
The UAE has also led unsuccessful efforts at the UN security council to pass a resolution calling for a full ceasefire. Nevertheless, UAE officials have said they will not cut ties with Israel.
