As reported by UK media on Tuesday, Prince William may perform some public duties pertaining to King Charles III following his cancer diagnosis, but the latter is expected to continue with formal constitutional matters.
Sky News relays that King Charles will continue meeting with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak during his treatment, with weekly audiences held remotely. However, no specific date was released regarding his return to full public duties.
On Monday, Buckingham Palace revealed that the 75-year-old monarch was diagnosed with cancer, after recently having spent three nights in the hospital for a corrective procedure on an enlarged prostate.
The palace revealed as well that during the previous medical intervention, a separate issue was identified, and subsequent tests confirmed the presence of cancer.
King Charles will continue to “undertake State business and official paperwork as usual.”
On May 6, King Charles III was officially crowned King in the first coronation in the UK since 1953, alongside his wife who is now Queen, Camilla Bowles.
