French activists have been pushing supermarkets to boycott all Israeli occupation products or add a clear sign to label the source of production as Israeli.
Several activists have documented their movements in videos posted on social media in condemnation of these supermarkets selling Israeli-produced dates in the Ramadan food aisles.
Carrefour
One of the activists posted a video on social media in which he verbally clashed with one of the employees working at Carrefour after finding Israeli-produced dates in the Ramadan aisle for goods.
“How dare you?” the activist asked after calling them out for selling, in this specific section, dates produced by the occupation whose forces “have been hunting the people of Gaza like they are hunting rabbits,” he emphasized.
The activist, who did not give up until the employee removed the occupation’s products, added that this was considered disrespectful towards every Muslim shopping at Carrefour and urged the latter to remove all Israeli-produced dates and replace them with Algerian dates.
In a similar incident, a Muslim customer found “Medjoul” dates in the Ramadan aisle in an Auchan branch with the latter labeling the produce as Algerian.
This prompted the woman to call the store out as this specific brand of dates is Israeli and not Algerian. She further urged the store to “remove the misleading signs.”
As the employee tried to inform the woman that such a decision was not up to them, the Muslim customer requested to talk to the person in charge stressing that she would not leave the store before that happened.
The woman further condemned this act labeling it as an attempt to “mislead consumers” by providing false information, especially amid the unfolding Israeli genocide against Gaza.
The activist emerged victorious, as the employee had no option left but to write “Israel” on the sign.
