Moscow and Yerevan will live ‘in peace and harmony,’ the history of Russian-Armenian relations forms the foundation for the development of bilateral cooperation, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told TASS on Tuesday.
Zakharova’s statement for TASS comes on the sidelines of the World Youth Festival in response to numerous questions from Armenian teenage participants about what could be done to improve relations during the present-day turbulent times.
“It’s not about me lecturing Armenia’s young participants [of the festival], but it’s about them approaching me speaking about the possible development of bilateral relations, they ask to take pictures and they share gifts,” Zakharova stated.
“They dream of living in peace and harmony. Moreover, we have a fantastic foundation laid regarding our relations’ history,” she said.
“I have no doubts that this foundation should be used by new generations as the platform for the development of bilateral relations in the future,” Zakharova added.
The World Youth Festival is taking place in the Sirius Federal Territory in far southern Russia on March 1-7, 2024. More than 300,000 people from 190 countries have applied to take part. Participants in the festival’s regional program will visit 30 Russian cities on March 10-17. TASS is the event’s general information partner.
