The Palestinian Foreign Ministry warns against rendering the UNSC resolution void of content, while the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine responds to the US delegate’s claim that the resolution is not binding for “Israel”.
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned against any attempts to dilute the content of the United Nations Security Council resolution adopted yesterday, emphasizing the necessary immediate implementation of the resolution and the adoption of binding mechanisms fully consistent with its text.
The ministry viewed the international resolution as suitable basis for achieving a permanent ceasefire and ending the war through political and diplomatic means, underscoring its binding nature and obligation to implement it.
Furthermore, the ministry asserted that the Israeli occupation’s fierce attack on the resolution is unjustified and serves no purpose other than the insistence of Netanyahu and his right-wing coalition on achieving their undisclosed malicious objectives through military means, prioritizing the logic of brute military force over reason, politics, and diplomatic efforts to complete the destruction of Gaza and exterminate all forms of life therein.
The ministry pointed out that Netanyahu’s declared war objectives are entirely contradictory and difficult to arrange in clear and explicit priorities without this inherent contradiction, explaining “Israel’s” continued rejection of all international efforts to stop the war and ensure the protection of civilians and secure their basic humanitarian needs.
DFLP reaffirms binding nature of UNSC resolution
In a related context, responding to the US delegate’s claim at the Security Council that the resolution is not binding on “Israel”, the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) stated in a press release that the US policy is based on inciting against Security Council resolutions that do not serve its aggressive policy, while simultaneously supporting the Israeli occupation’s barbaric aggression against the Strip in defiance of the Council’s resolutions.
The DFLP stated that the US has become increasingly wary of the UN, seeing it as a heavy burden on its policy, as the United States and its followers grow increasingly isolated in the Security Council and the General Assembly, as evident in every vote on peoples’ social justice issues.
