President Mahmoud Abbas met today with Jordanian Prime Minister Bishr Khasawneh on the sidelines of the special meeting of the World Economic Forum hosted by the Saudi capital, Riyadh.
During the meeting, President Abbas expressed his appreciation for King Abdullah II’s steadfast support for the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them their right to establish an independent state with its capital in East Jerusalem. He commended the King’s efforts to halt the Israeli aggression on Gaza.
President Abbas outlined the efforts being made to halt the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and to immediately deliver humanitarian and medical aid. He reiterated the warning about the danger of an Israeli military invasion of Rafah.
The President addressed the dangerous Israeli escalation in the West Bank, with continued daily raids on Palestinian cities, towns, and refugee camps, as well as the ongoing crimes committed by terrorist colonists and the assaults on Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
In turn, Prime Minister Khasawneh reaffirmed Jordan’s steadfast support, under the leadership of King Abdullah II, for the Palestinian people. He pledged to provide all forms of support and backing for the people of Palestine to attain their full legitimate rights.
In a separate meeting, President Abbas met with the President of the World Economic Forum, Borge Brende, on the sidelines of the forum’s special meeting in Riyadh.
During the meeting, President Abbas briefed Brende on the developments of the political situation amidst the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem.
He highlighted the efforts being made to halt the aggression and to immediately deliver humanitarian and medical aid, as well as to prevent the displacement of the Palestinian people.
