The International Court of Justice started a session this evening in The Hague to rule on Nicaragua’s lawsuit against Germany, accusing it of facilitating the Israeli genocide in Gaza.
The session comes at the request of Nicaragua for the top UN court to impose provisional measures that would halt Berlin’s supply of weapons to Israel.
Nicaragua has criticized Germany for supporting the Israeli occupation, deeming the provision of weapons to the Israeli government while simultaneously providing aid to Gaza as “regrettable and indicative of disdain.”
Nicaragua also requested five provisional measures to take effect, notably that “Germany immediately suspend its assistance to Israel, especially supplying it with military equipment.”
