Colombia ’s President Gustavo Petro announced during the annual Labor Day celebrations in the capital Bogota that his country will break diplomatic ties with Israel on Thursday over its genocidal acts in Gaza.
News agencies quoted President Gustavo Petro saying that the government of the Republic of Colombia will sever diplomatic ties with the State of Israel tomorrow, Thursday, for having a president and a government that have a tendency for genocide.
Petro sharply criticized Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, describing him as the “perpetrator of genocide” in Gaza.
The Colombian president requested his country to join South Africa’s case at the International Court of Justice, in which it accused Israel of committing acts of genocide in the Gaza Strip.
He stressed that States cannot be passive in the face of the events in Gaza.
