Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Akbar Ahmadian has congratulated Masoud Pezeshkian on his victory in the presidential election.
Ahmadian made the remarks during a meeting with President-elect Pezeshkian on Tuesday.
He said the SNSC is ready to use all its capacities to sincerely assist him in securing the Iranian nation’s interests.
The top Iranian security official said Pezeshkian’s election is an “asset” in the pursuit of the goals and interests of the nation as well as resolving people’s problems.
Pezeshkian, for his part, stressed the importance of receiving expert advice from the SNSC to make the best decisions at the highest levels.
Pezeshkian, the 69-year-old trained heart surgeon and lawmaker, won the July 5 runoff presidential election against ex-nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili, receiving 16.3 million votes compared to Jalili’s 13.5 million.
In a victory speech, Pezeshkian described his victory as the start of “a new chapter” for the country.
The election was called early after Iran’s President Ebrahim Raeisi lost his life in a helicopter crash on May 19.
Separately on Tuesday, Iran’s Judiciary chief Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei extended his congratulations to Pezeshkian on his election.
Mohseni-Ejei, who attended the president’s office in the morning, called for the cooperation of the Judiciary and the new administration to promote social justice.
He also said the Judiciary was ready to cooperate with the new government to implement the objectives of the Islamic Revolution.
The Iranian Judiciary chief underscored the duty of all the Islamic Republic’s officials to use capacities in order to solve people’s problems, fulfill their expectations and achieve the ideals of the Islamic Revolution.
While appreciating the head of the judiciary, Pezeshkian also stated that he is determined to use every means and cooperate with other officials to resolve people’s problems, improve the state of the country’s economy and seriously fight corruption.
