Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, on Friday, received a phone call from his Dutch counterpart Caspar Veldkamp.
Veldkamp stressed that his country attaches great importance to friendly relations with Jordan, and that the Dutch government is keen to develop relations with Jordan in various fields, and highly valued its role in the region.
The Dutch government respects Jordan and its role and supports the two-state solution as a means of bringing about peace in the region. Veldkamp distanced his government from remarks made by a Dutch representative that criticized Jordan and Palestine. He emphasized that these statements in no way reflect the positions of the Dutch government.
Safadi also emphasized that the Dutch government and Jordan are eager to foster the cordial relations that unite the two nations, and he thanked him for expressing the government’s unambiguous stance against the Dutch representative’s remarks, which he claimed did not accurately reflect the Dutch government’s policies or position.
Safadi appreciated the Netherlands’ stance in favor of the two-state solution and the Palestinian people’s legal entitlement to an independent state on their own territory.
The two ministers reaffirmed their commitment to continuing their joint efforts to improve cooperation across a range of issues, as well as to achieve an immediate and lasting ceasefire, put an end to the humanitarian crisis brought on by Israel’s aggression against Gaza, and continue their joint efforts to provide humanitarian aid to the entire Strip.
In today’s Dutch radio broadcast, Veldkamp reaffirmed that the Netherlands is in favor of the two-state solution, that Palestine is a state, that Israel is a different state from it, and that the State of Palestine will not be established at Jordan’s expense.
“The relationship between Jordan and the Netherlands is very important, and this is what I am trying to strengthen and work on close relations with Jordan,” Veldkamp stated in the interview.
Safadi further emphasized that Jordan does not listen to meaningless, hollow statements made by a racist.
