Presidential Spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeineh today reiterated his call for immediate ceasefire in the war-torn Gaza Strip.
Abu Rudeineh, who also serves as a member of the Fatah Executive Committee, made his call during a meeting with Russian Presidential Special Envoy for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov, attended by Palestine’s ambassador to Mauritania, Mohammad al-Asad.
During the meeting, Abu Rudeineh conveyed to Bogdanov President Mahmoud Abbas’s keenness to further develop bilateral Palestinian-Russian relations and briefed him on the situation in the occupied Palestinian Territory, with special focus on the ongoing Israeli genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, which resulted in the killing of over 39,480 Palestinians and injuring approximately 91,128 others.
He reaffirmed Palestine’s position seeking an immediate halt to the Israeli genocidal aggression on the Palestinian people, sparing Palestinians the scourges of the aggression, ensuring unimpeded access of medical and food assistance to all parts of the Strip, restoring water and electricity supply to the Strip as soon as possible and full Israeli withdrawal from the Strip.
He touched upon the crimes committed by the occupation forces and colonists in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, along with the further intensification of settler-colonial construction.
He expressed appreciation of Russia’s positions supporting the Palestinian people’s inalienable rights and rejecting the ongoing genocidal aggression while voicing his pride in the relations of friendship and solidarity between both countries.
He highlighted the importance of President Abbas’ anticipated visit to Russia and meeting with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, in fostering friendship relations.
The Russian diplomat, Bogdanov, reiterated his country’s position calling for an immediate end to the aggression on Gaza, compliance with the United Nations resolutions and international law concerning solving the Palestinian question, and enabling the Palestinian people to realize their legitimate rights to freedom and independence.
