Iran’s interim Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani says the development of relations with India will have a leading impact on regional peace and stability.
Bagheri Kani made the remarks in a message to Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar published in a post on X on Thursday, offering his “congratulations and good wishes” to him and the people and government of India on their Independence Day.
India marks annually its independence from the United Kingdom on August, 15 1947.
In his message, the interim foreign minister said he is “sure that the developing relationship between I.R. Iran and Indian plays an important role in the peace, stability and development of our common region.”
Iran and India have been making efforts to improve relations during recent years.
Back in May, the two countries signed a 10-year contract for operation and equipment of the southern Iranian port city of Chabahar as part of plans to further boost their bilateral trade and economic relations.
