Yemeni Houthi military spokesperson, Yahya Saree, announced on Monday that the group had successfully shot down a U.S. MQ-9 drone over the Dhamar province.
According to the spokesperson, this marks the third MQ-9 drone downed in a week and the tenth since the group began supporting operations in Gaza.
Houthi-affiliated activists shared a video showing the drone burning in the sky, supporting the group’s claims of bringing down the American drone.
This incident comes amid rising tensions in the region, with Yemeni airspace experiencing increased drone activity in recent months.
