Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman stated on Wednesday that Saudi Arabia will not establish diplomatic relations with Israel until a Palestinian state is created. He also condemned Israel for its “crimes” against the Palestinian people.
Saudi Arabia’s Stance on Palestine
Speaking on behalf of King Salman at the opening of the first session of the 9th Shura Council, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman reiterated Saudi Arabia’s commitment to the Palestinian cause. He expressed the kingdom’s strong condemnation of the Israeli occupation’s actions against Palestinians.
“The Palestinian issue remains a top priority for your country,” the Crown Prince said. “We reaffirm the kingdom’s refusal to normalize relations with Israel unless an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital is established.”
Recognition of a Palestinian State
The Crown Prince also thanked nations that have recognized Palestine, urging others to follow suit. He emphasized that Saudi Arabia would continue its efforts to achieve a two-state solution.
Consistent Saudi Position
Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry previously confirmed the kingdom’s unwavering position on the Palestinian issue. The ministry stated that there would be no diplomatic relations with Israel unless a sovereign Palestinian state is recognized based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and until Israel halts its aggression against Gaza and withdraws its forces from the area.
