Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, responding to Iran’s missile attack on Israel, vowed on Wednesday that 2024 will be “a year of complete victory.” The statement came after Iran launched a significant missile strike on Israeli territory on Tuesday evening.
Netanyahu’s Social Media Post with F-35 Fighter
Netanyahu shared his message with the Israeli people via the platform X (formerly Twitter), stating, “This year will be a year of complete victory. Happy New Year to the people of Israel.” The post included a photo of Netanyahu standing in front of an F-35 fighter jet, hinting at a possible Israeli response that could involve the advanced aircraft.
Iran’s largest missile attack on Israel has prompted a strong reaction, with Israel threatening a “painful response.” Following the attack, the Israeli military announced that it would choose an appropriate time to “demonstrate our precise and surprising offensive capabilities,” emphasizing that Israel remains capable of preventing any hostile achievements.
Iran’s Missile Attack on Israel
On Wednesday morning, Iranian state television reported that Tehran had launched 200 missiles at Israel on Tuesday. The attack has escalated tensions in the region, prompting Netanyahu to project an image of strength and readiness.
Israel’s Use of F-35 Fighter Jets
In May 2018, Israel became the first country to use F-35 fighter jets in combat. These jets, part of the fifth generation of advanced aircraft, have exceptional maneuverability and the capability to carry multiple types of weapons, including air-to-air missiles.
Israel signed a $3 billion deal with the United States in June 2024 to purchase a third squadron of 25 F-35 fighter jets, which will be delivered by 2028. This will bring the total number of F-35s in Israel’s fleet to 75, according to the Israeli Ministry of Defense.
The F-35 fighter jet is equipped with advanced artificial intelligence, capable of identifying surrounding targets. It is known for its stealth capabilities, allowing it to evade radar and electronic countermeasures, making it a formidable asset in aerial warfare. With a top speed of 1,975 km/h, the F-35 also boasts vertical takeoff and landing capabilities, eliminating the need for a traditional runway.
