Media sources confirmed that several Israeli soldiers were killed on Thursday during intense clashes with Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. According to reports, four Israeli soldiers were killed early in the morning during confrontations with Hezbollah fighters in the town of Maroun al-Ras, located in southern Lebanon.
Hezbollah later announced that it had conducted 21 operations targeting Israeli forces and military sites along the border and inside northern Israel. In one of the attacks, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for detonating an explosive device against an Israeli force attempting to infiltrate a village in southern Lebanon.
Additionally, the group stated in a Thursday statement that it successfully repelled an Israeli advance at the Fatima Gate, a border area between Lebanon and Israel.
Throughout the day, Hezbollah issued at least three statements detailing their attacks. In one, they claimed to have struck a gathering of Israeli forces in the Israeli settlement of Shomera with a “Falaq” missile. Another statement reported a rocket strike on Israeli forces in the settlement of al-Bassa, while a third statement, numbered 19, said Hezbollah launched a rocket salvo at Israeli forces in the settlement of Avivim.
Previous Casualties
On Wednesday, the Israeli military reported that eight soldiers had been killed in battles with Hezbollah after Israeli forces advanced into Lebanese territory. Israeli media revealed that most of the soldiers killed in southern Lebanon were part of the Israeli army’s elite “Egoz” commando unit.
The casualties represent the highest number of Israeli losses on the Lebanese front in nearly a year of ongoing hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah.
