The Israeli occupation continues its policy of extermination and destruction, similar to its actions in Gaza and southern Lebanon. Over the past year, video footage has documented Israeli soldiers blowing up homes, mosques, and schools in the Gaza Strip.
This same destructive strategy has now extended to southern Lebanon. Israeli media and platforms recently released two video clips: one filmed from a nearby town and another from a reconnaissance aircraft, both capturing the moment Israeli forces detonated explosives in the village of Muhaybib, located in the Marjeyoun district of southern Lebanon.
The first video shows a number of Israeli soldiers expressing surprise at the magnitude of the explosion occurring before them. The footage has gone viral on social media, drawing reactions from Lebanese and Arab users who noted the massive clouds of smoke that engulfed the area, suggesting that the village was reduced to ashes.
Israeli forces also released videos showing the detonation of specific structures, including the mosque in the village of Yaroun in the Bint Jbeil district and the mosque in the village of Dahira in southern Lebanon. However, this is the first time they have broadcast footage of a large-scale explosion affecting entire neighborhoods within a small village.
Comments on social media highlighted that the “enemy army has leveled a small village to the ground in southern Lebanon.” In response to Israeli claims that the village serves as a stronghold for Hezbollah forces, one X platform user pointed out that the Israeli army is obliterating the village of Muhaybib, which consists of only a few homes, while claiming the existence of bases and underground tunnels belonging to Hezbollah’s Radwan force.
Additionally, some users noted that the village is home to the shrine of the Prophet Benjamin, which dates back over two thousand years. This site is believed by locals to be associated with the twelfth son of the Prophet Jacob, and its destruction has led to the obliteration of this historic site.
Others expressed astonishment at the demolition of the shrine, considering that the Prophet Benjamin is revered among Israelis. One commentator stated that “the demolition of the shrine—dating back thousands of years—is the greatest evidence that the occupation forces have lost hope in achieving their project in southern Lebanon.” He further remarked, “When the great snake can no longer destroy, it emerges from its hole to destroy the home,” alluding to the notion that the shrine belongs to a Jewish prophet and should be protected by Israel as one of their sacred sites.
