Iran has denied any involvement in the drone attack on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s residence in Caesarea, north of Tel Aviv, which occurred on Saturday.
Responding to inquiries about Iran’s alleged role in the attack, the Iranian delegation at the United Nations stated, “This action was carried out by Hezbollah,” according to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmail Baghaei, criticized Israel for “spreading lies,” calling it a “regular and persistent practice by this regime and its criminal leaders,” as reported by IRNA.
Netanyahu, however, directly accused Hezbollah of orchestrating the attack. In a statement from his office, he referred to the incident as an assassination attempt, adding, “This will not deter me or Israel from continuing the war against its enemies for our resurgence. We will achieve all the war goals we’ve set and change the security landscape in our region for generations.”
He further warned, “I say to Iran and its partners in the axis of evil: anyone who harms Israeli citizens will pay a heavy price.”
Despite the accusations, Israeli authorities have provided no official details about the extent of damage from the drone strike. Both Israeli military and political leadership have maintained a strict blackout on specific information.
According to the Israeli Prime Minister’s office, the drone was launched from Lebanon. Netanyahu and his wife were not at the residence at the time of the attack, and no casualties were reported.
Israeli media reported that the drone caused a loud explosion and noted that the drone type was similar to one that had previously targeted the Golani Brigade camp and is difficult to intercept.
