Footage from the site of a truck collision at a bus stop near Glilot, north of Tel Aviv, reveals the aftermath of the incident, with several injured people seen trapped beneath the truck as soldiers and paramedics work to free them.
Israeli emergency services have reported that 50 people were injured in the incident, 15 of whom are in critical condition as of Sunday.
Channel 12 in Israel reports that 35 of the injured have been evacuated, including six critically injured and five with moderate injuries. According to Yedioth Ahronoth, some of those injured remain trapped beneath the truck in serious condition.
The scene shows a significant presence of Israeli police, military personnel, ambulances, and fire trucks. Civil defense workers are seen attempting to access the truck’s heavily damaged driver’s area, seemingly to move it away from the scene.
Israeli police confirmed that the truck collided with a bus near a passenger station adjacent to the Glilot military base, which also houses Mossad headquarters. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that he is awaiting a final clarification on the incident.
Police added that civilians fired at the truck driver, who had collided with the bus and passengers at the Glilot station. Israeli Army Radio reports that shots were fired at the driver, identified as the suspect in the incident.
According to Israeli Army Radio, several of the injured were soldiers reportedly en route to their respective military bases.
