Iran has reaffirmed its commitment to retaliate against a recent Israeli attack on military facilities in Tehran and two other provinces. Ismail Baqaei, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, stated that Tehran will “use all available resources” to respond with “full force” to Israel’s assault.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Baqaei emphasized Iran’s stance on national sovereignty, asserting, “Defending national sovereignty and territorial unity is a core principle, and we have demonstrated this in action.” He added that Iran’s responses to “Zionist entity aggressions” are well-defined and that the nation will deploy its material and spiritual capabilities to retaliate against such provocations.
Iranian President Massoud Bezshkian echoed these sentiments, indicating that any potential ceasefire between Iran’s allies and Israel could impact the intensity of Iran’s response. Bezshkian noted, “Should Israel reconsider its actions, agree to a ceasefire, and halt the killing of innocent lives, this may influence the scale and form of our response.”
The latest exchange followed Israel’s airstrikes on Iran on October 26, reportedly in response to missile attacks launched by Iran against Israel earlier that month. Iran’s actions were said to be a response to the deaths of Iran-aligned leaders and a Revolutionary Guard commander.
Following the strikes, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei promised a “harsh response,” while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu clarified that Israel targeted Iranian defense facilities and missile production sites.
Iran’s military confirmed that Israel’s attack resulted in the deaths of four soldiers and inflicted limited damage on radar systems. Iranian media also reported one civilian casualty in the strikes.
