Ankara Might Assist in Printing New Syrian Currency Notes
Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloglu, has announced that Turkey might assist the new Syrian authorities in printing new banknotes.
According to Turkish media reports, Uraloglu highlighted that Syrian currency has been printed abroad, and Turkey is prepared to help Syria in this regard. Coordination has already begun with the Turkish Foreign Ministry and the National Intelligence Directorate to move forward with this initiative.
Uraloglu promised that Turkey would undertake the necessary work without delay to support the
Syrian authorities. Currently, Syria circulates banknotes printed in Russia, including the 2000
Syrian pound note featuring the image of former President Bashar al-Assad, while the Turkish
lira is used in several Syrian cities.
This move could signify a deepening of economic ties between Turkey and the new Syrian
administration, potentially aiding in stabilizing and revitalizing the Syrian economy amidst ongoing challenges.
