Lebanese Health Ministry Reports 22 Killed and Over 100 Wounded in Israeli Attacks
The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced on Sunday that 22 individuals were killed, and more than 100 were injured due to attacks carried out by the Israeli military against civilians attempting to return to their towns in southern Lebanon.
According to a statement from the Ministry, the Israeli aggressions, which occurred while citizens were trying to enter their still-occupied villages, have led to the death toll rising to 22, including 6 women up to this point.
The statement further noted that the number of wounded has reached 124, among them 12 women and a medic from the Scout Association.
On the other hand, the Israeli military stated in a release that: “Earlier today, our forces operating in southern Lebanon opened fire to neutralize a threat at several locations where suspicious individuals approached our troops.”
The statement continued, “A number of suspects who posed a real threat to the army were detained and are currently being interrogated in the field.”
It added, “Our army is deployed in southern Lebanon, continuing to operate according to the
understandings between Israel and Lebanon, monitoring Hezbollah’s attempts to return to the
area. The Israeli military will eliminate any threat to the State of Israel and the Israeli Forces.”

Meanwhile,
The United Nations stated on Sunday that “conditions are not yet conducive” for the return of
residents to border towns with Israel in southern Lebanon, as Israeli forces continue their
presence despite the expiration of the withdrawal deadline under the ceasefire agreement with
Hezbollah.
In a joint statement by the UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon and the Head of the United
Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), it was said: “As tragically witnessed this morning,
conditions are not yet conducive for a safe return of civilians to their villages along the Blue Line.
Therefore, displaced communities, already facing a long road to recovery and rebuilding, are
once again urged to exercise caution.”
