Al-Sisi Meets Jordanian Crown Prince to Discuss Palestinian Issue
On Sunday, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi met with Jordan’s Crown Prince Hussein bin
Abdullah II in Cairo to discuss several issues, primarily focusing on the future of Gaza and the ongoing
developments in the West Bank.
The meeting addressed Egypt’s efforts towards the reconstruction of Gaza, alongside hosting the
upcoming Arab Summit scheduled for February 27.
Discussions also covered bilateral relations between Egypt and Jordan, exploring ways to enhance
cooperation across various fields, with a particular emphasis on regional issues, notably the Palestinian
cause.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the reconstruction of Gaza without displacing the
Palestinian people. They emphasized the need to solidify the ceasefire in Gaza and increase
humanitarian assistance in the region.
Warnings were issued regarding the dangers of escalating tensions in the West Bank and the attacks on
Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
The meeting underscored the necessity for a political horizon aimed at achieving a just and
comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution. This solution would ensure the establishment of
an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the 1967 borders.
By focusing on these critical issues, the leaders from Egypt and Jordan have highlighted the urgency of
addressing the Palestinian issue on both humanitarian and political fronts.
