Asma al-Assad Emerges on “X”: Fake Account or Real?
In recent days, after Hafez al-Assad, son of the ousted Syrian president, was seen speaking via Telegram
while wandering around Moscow, an account bearing the name of his mother, Asma al-Assad, has
sparked debate on the platform “X”. The account in question has posted nine consecutive posts, with
one of the highlights stating that she will maintain silence on political issues and will not interfere in
them in the future.

announced this new account for Asma al-Assad through his own Telegram channel, where he previously
shared a video of himself in one of Moscow’s streets. He wrote, “I am announcing to you the account of
Mrs. Asma al-Assad on the ‘X’ platform, and the account will be apolitical, aiming to present content
reflecting various aspects of her life and human activities.”
The posts on the account supposedly belonging to the wife of the former Syrian regime’s president were
general and vague. They hinted at breaking her silence by revealing some truths and stages that cannot
be erased from memory, without specifying exactly what these truths or areas of discussion would be.
The first post on the account read, “After a period of silence, it’s time for a new beginning… Hope and
change do not stop, let’s start together”, followed by a message of love for Syria, hoping for peace and
prosperity for its people. She continued, “The homeland is the strength that does not break, and its
children are the hope that does not fade, no matter the challenges. Together, we face the future with all
determination and hope.”
She further clarified her stance on political involvement, stating, “In recent years, I have always been
committed to silence regarding political issues, and I will have no involvement in this area in the
future.”
She added, “Everyone has their own path, and some paths were never my choice. As always, I share my
thoughts here, away from any other titles. There are stages in life that cannot be erased, they remain
stuck in memory with all their details… Is it time to share them?”
Many are skeptical about this “X” account, considering it to be fake and managed by individuals looking
to stir controversy at this critical juncture in Syrian history. Others believe it might genuinely belong to
Asma al-Assad, pondering whether her aim is to exonerate herself from past events in the country or
reveal events and fates concerning her family.
The authenticity of this account remains under scrutiny, highlighting the complex interplay between
personal narratives and political implications on social media platforms.
