Lebanese President: No Exclusion for Anyone in Our Country
The Lebanese President, Joseph Aoun, emphasized that there is no exclusion for anyone in Lebanon, as the state is the one protecting all sects, not the other way around.
During his meeting with a delegation from the Maronite League, Aoun stated, “What happened in the past months has affected Lebanon as a whole, and its interest must be above all considerations.” He reaffirmed that “there is no exclusion for anyone in Lebanon, as the state is the one protecting all sects, not the other way around.”
He pointed out that “we have many opportunities presented by brotherly and friendly countries, and it
is unfortunate that we waste them due to side disputes and individual calculations. We must work
together for the sake of our country and not blame the outside.” He stressed that “we will achieve the
required economic, financial, and social reforms to ensure the cooperation of countries with us, as the
responsibility falls on us, not on others.”
Aoun affirmed that “we are in favor of peaceful freedom of expression, but the transgressions that
occurred a few days ago, such as road blockages and attacks on the army and citizens, are unacceptable
practices that will not be repeated.” He added, “What happened in the south negatively affected
Lebanon as a whole, and there is absolutely no truth to the claim that the Shia sect is besieged. We are
all one body and one environment; we paid the price of war and face challenges together, and trust
within Lebanese society is the foundation.”
