Egypt Supports Syria’s Unity and Sovereignty
On Thursday, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry announced that Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aaty held a phone call with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments.
According to the ministry, “Abdel Aaty and Lavrov exchanged views on the developments in the Gaza Strip and reviewed ongoing preparations for the upcoming Arab Summit, which Cairo will host on March 4th.” The call highlighted Egypt’s active role in addressing regional challenges and fostering diplomatic dialogue.
The ministry further noted that Abdel Aaty briefed Lavrov on Egypt’s efforts to ensure the stabilization and sustainability of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza. The discussion also covered a plan being developed for Gaza’s reconstruction while ensuring Palestinians remain on their land.
Abdel Aaty emphasized Egypt’s firm rejection of any attempts to displace Palestinians and stressed the need for a permanent and just political solution to the Palestinian issue.
During the call, Abdel Aaty reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast support for the Syrian state, underscoring the importance of respecting Syria’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity
