A new YouGov and Yahoo News poll released on Tuesday shows US President Joe Biden’s marginal lead over former US President Donald Trump is no longer giving him a sure win for the 2024 presidential race, due to a predicted tie.
The poll demonstrated that each candidate had the support of 44% of registered voters, marking a change from a similar poll last month in which Biden garnered 47% support and Trump had 41%.
7% of registered voters claimed to be undecided, while 4% did not wish to vote and relive the 2020 elections.
On the other hand, merely 27% of voters believed Biden was “fit to serve another term as president,” while 77% saw his age as a problem. Around 47% of Americans believe he and his family are corrupt, while only 34% approve of his handling of the country’s economy.
With that being said, Biden’s advisors say that the current economic situation will be a bonus for the president’s reelection campaign, referring to record-low unemployment numbers and easing inflation.
